CSA 2018: Week 19

Hard to believe that we’re already on the second to last week of CSA. We still have lots of roots like potatoes, carrots, and beets to harvest, but the farm has definitely slowed down a lot. We’ll stay busy into November putting the hoop houses to bed, seeding cover crop, finishing the harvest, and planting some winter crops.

Remember that the last CSA pick up will be next Wednesday, October 17 so don’t miss it! This last distribution will be a double share to make up for the week we skipped in July. We’re going to do a market-style set up and, instead of packing shares, we’ll bring a big selection of produce (plenty of goodies for winter storage) and let you guys pick out whatever you want, up to $45 worth of produce. You are welcome to purchase additional produce as well if you really need to stock up! We’ll also have some warm drinks and treats so we can celebrate the end of a successful season together!

This week we have a nice fall-flavored share for ya: kale, carrots, romaine, radishes, red onions, garlic, and kabocha squash.

Kabocha squash is a Japanese winter squash that has a sweet, nutty flavor and velvety texture. It’s super versatile and easy to use so go nuts!
