Crazy that 2017 and Victory Farm's first season is coming to an end! Adam and I are taking some much needed time off and enjoying the holidays with our families and friends. We hope you are too!
This has been a busy and expensive year for Victory Farm, full of much needed infrastructure projects. (Remember the big green barn, the heated nursery, replacing the hoophouse plastic, 30,000 gallons of water storage tanks, and the irrigation system upgrade)?
Now we're working on hoophouse #2!
All of this infrastructure allows us to grow more food more efficiently for our community and we are using the heck out of it! That being said, so much new construction in one year means we have little money to carry over into 2018. This is a common predicament, especially for a first year business and we're honestly just grateful to be in the black! We are even more grateful to our loyal crew of CSA members (you guys!) who will help us bridge the financial gap between January and April, buy seeds and run the well pump, feed the chickens and crank up the heater in the nursery, finish the new hoophouse and repair the tractor, and grow MORE VEGGIES THAN EVER IN 2018!!!!
Our CSA is the backbone of our farm and, therefore, our livelihoods. You support us before we have anything to give you, before we've even put one seed in the ground. Large commodity farms are able to take out operating loans to get their seasons going each year, but we, as a small business with little collateral, are unable to do so. Each one of you provides us with a small operating loan so we can buy, plant, and nurture the seeds that become your vegetable payback.
Sign up for a 2018 CSA share starts January 8. Previous members will get a week to sign up on our website before we open it up to the general public on January 15. We'll send you more details next year! ;)
We hope that each one of you wants to come back next year but understand that circumstances change and that a CSA share is a big commitment. If you won't be joining us, we're sad to see you go, but loved getting to grow your food for a little while! You can still help out the farm by sharing CSA info with your friends and supporting us at the farmers market.
Thank you so, so much from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of Victory Farm's first year! Farming is truly a labor of love and we are so lucky to feel so much of it from our customers and friends. We love you too!
Happy New Year and stay in touch!
Keegan and Adam
